How magazines advertisements promote an idealised
lifestyle in a particular women’s magazine.
So far i have looked at gender in lifestyle magazines and found that magazines still hold stereotypical views about men and women which exist, to a certain extent as it is easier to use them then get to know every man and women in the world personally.

MEN are / should be:
masculine
dominant
strong
aggressive
intelligent
rational
active (do things)
WOMEN are / should be:
feminine
submissive
weak
passive
intuitive
emotional
communicative (talk about things)
Men and women are also seen to like different things. For example:
MEN like
cars / technology
getting drunk
casual sex with many partners
WOMEN like
shopping / make up
social drinking with friends
committed relationships
I have also looked into the purpose of advertising and have analysed a few OK magazine covers. I am currently analysing adverts in the OK magazine.
